What's up Big Yones...as much of a capitalist as I am, and aspire to be like David Stern and Vince McMahon, I have no desire to charge any friends of mine more for their membership (for people I don't know, I wouldn't mind as much).
As great as it would be to have 8 teams, giving us a chance to add more talent and the opportunity to play with more people and become more widely known, there are also drawbacks. It would require one of two things; 1.) Being at the gym for four hours (which I refuse to do) OR 2.) Incorporating a bye week, which isn't a bad idea, but for me personally, I'd rather play every week.
Also, there's an increased risk of letting a-holes into the league, which if I could avoid by not expanding, I'd rather keep the group we have. Think about it, 2 more teams, means 12 more guys...guaranteed 2 or 3 jerks will sneak in.
Anyway, I'm sure we could push it if the majority of players wanted it...but it would have to be overwhelming for me to make a move on it.
To answer your question, yes, it is a possibility...but you should first ask yourself if that is something that you really want.
If we dont want any jerks in the league, we should start by kicking the ones we currently have out of the league. Maybe one week anybody who cares enough to vote can get together at B Dubs or Bailey's and cast a ballot for who they think should be out of the league, anybody receiving over 65% of the "expulsion" votes on all ballots cast should justifiably be replaced.
1) anybody receiving at least 22 out of 36 votes probably shouldnt be in the league
2) anybody receiving at least 22 out of 36 votes probably shouldn't want to be in the league, I know if I did I would gladly quit
3)
And if there is an expansion, there should be a set of extremely strict talent AND political regulations in place. As has already been mentioned for months now, there was no reason other than relations to Nick's wife that Marvin or Allan should have jumped to the top of the list. In addition to that, no disrespect to Joe Q and Allan, replacing Zane and Nolan with them two is a pretty drastic drop off in talent.
As a side note, I will gladly open up a spot next season and get myself kicked out of the league for at least a couple games if I am on the receiving end of another 3-step-leading-hip-check (I dont think I need to mention who this is directed towards, allowing it to happen twice already was more than I should have allowed). And I dont think I am alone in this thought process, huh Nate?
E, with 6 members on the cal board, why would you have to be there every week for all the games? Why wouldnt the others take on some of this responsibility?
Also, are we going to meet to dicuss our league options.
What up Tone...we'll probably meet some time in early August to discuss everything and plan for a league start date of mid-late september.
The committee is only comprised of five members. Alex and Keith will have school this coming session. Nick is married now. That leaves me and Samer. We'll barely have enough people to run the score, let alone be there for four hours, you know?
I have not been on the message board in a while.... Now that I have time off work I decided to read some of the stupid remarks.
Joey -- My hip check is FAR from the dirtiest foul that has happened in the past season. I personally didn't think it was that hard. I was trying to foul you before you had the chance to shoot. If you want to talk about dirty fouls lets talk about Moe's foul on Brian McKay during that same game or Fadi G WWE fouls during the whole season. I dont think that foul was that big of a deal until you blew your nice lead to lose game.
Nate-- I don't remember my hip check foul on you. If I did hip check you, I'm sorry you know I have nothing but love for you and Nolen.
Moe-- Can I please have my Championship Trophy back?
