Was it just me or was it freezing in the gym last night? Outside of the heat being turned off on us, we saw both teams catch fire, but only one stayed hot. WPD drew first blood by coming out with an 8-0 lead. However, you can't get to the finals without being able to dig yourself out of a hole, and that's exactly what LH did and eventually took the lead at 24-23 just before the half. Half-time ended with WPD regaining the lead 28-26.
First Half Stats
WPD: Nick-14, Zane-7, Ray-7
LH: Nouri-10, Jeter-8, Mars-6, Nate-2
The second half was not pretty at all for LH. Most of it consisted of rushed shots/poor shot selection, which led to fast breaks for WPD. It also didn't help that about 70% of the threes that WPD took, went in. It's hard to cope with when you've dug yourself in a hole and it seems like nothing is going right for you and the other team can't miss. The only bright points of the second half for LH were Jeter's clean up buckets (great job Jeet), Nouri hitting an occasional shot and Nate not giving up. Whenever LH made a great play, WPD came back and made three great plays. By that point, it was too little, too late, WPD could not miss and was destined for victory. All season long and especially on their winning streaks, LH won b/c of great team play, balanced scoring, great leadership and composure, that wasn't evident last night. Usually the game goes to the hungrier team, that team was WPD, to put it plainly, Nick and Zane couldn't be stopped. The team played only five players, and their teammates supported well with deflections, good passes and rebounds.
All in all, good game LH, you showed a lot of heart, but it just wasn't your night.
