IF ITS A FACT THAT THE CAPTAINS HAVE FREE ENTRY INTO THE LEAGUE, THATS NOT A PROBLEM...YOU GUYS DESERVE IT BECAUSE YOU DO MORE FOR THE LEAGUE, DRAFT, ETC. BUT ONE THING I DONT UNDERSTAND IS THAT NO CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE FOR THIS SESSION AND YET THE COST OF ENTRY IS STILL THE SAME. LETS DO THE MATH $130 X 36 PEOPLE = $4,680. NOW WHERE IS THIS MONEY GOING AND HOW IS IT BEING SPENT. ITS NOT LIKE WE NEED JERSEYS CUZ THAT WAS TAKIN CARE OF LAST SESSION...I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE SOME NEW FACES, WELCOME NEW PEEPS, SO LETS JUST SAY ABOUT FIVE NEW JERSEYS WILL BE ADDED. NOW THE BIGGEST ISSUE THAT WAS NOT ADDRESSED IS REFEREES. ITS THE COMMISSIONERS RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE EVERYTHIGN IN ORDER, NOW I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY WE DONT HAVE REGULAR REFS AND STILL USING OUR OWN PLAYERS TO REF GAMES AND HAVE PEOPLE ARGUE ON WHO SHOULD REF, THATS A B.S. CALL, ETC. THAT WOULDNT OCCUR IF WE HAD OUTSIDER REFS TO THE EXTENT WE EXPERIENCE WEEK TO WEEK. NOW IF YOU GUYS ARE NOT GOING TO MAKE CHANGES THAT BETTER THE LEAGUE WITH THE MONEY AVAILABLE TO YOU GUYS THROUGH ENTRY FEES, THEN IT IS UNFAIR TO THE PLAYERS PAYING FOR CERTAIN ACCOMDATIONS NOT BEING PRESENTED HERE. IF CHANGES ARE NOT BEING MADE THAN YOU GUYS SHOULD RETHINK THE FEE SCHEDULE, AND ITS NOT A "BEING CHEAP" ISSUE, ITS THE FACT CHANGES NEEDED TO MADE AND THEY WEREN'T, BOTTOM LINE. PEOPLE NEED TO STEP UP THO THEIR RESPONSIBILITES, THATS ALL. GREAT LEAGUE, BUT EVERYONE SHOULD BE GETTING WHAT THEY PAY FOR OR SAID THAT THEY WOULD RECIEVE AS PART OF THE CAL. ANYONE CARE TO AGREE OR DISAGREE...PLEASE FEEL FREE TO REPLY, CAL LEADERS AND PLAYERS? ANOTHER RESPONSIBILTY IS TO HAVE THE STATS PAGE UPDATED IN A TIMELY MANNER AND NOT HAVE TO GO ON THE WEBSITE AND STILL SEE STATS FROM THE PREVIOUS SESSION!!! IM NOT ACCUSING ANYONE OF ANY WRONG DOING, BUT I FEEL IM SPEAKING FOR ALOT OF PLAYERS AS I OVER HEARD THEM WHEN PAYING THEIR FEE ENTRIES AND THEIR CONCERNS.
First of all, I believe that if people were honest, and were looking for the truth, all it would require is that you ask, this is not Saddam’s regime where you have to worry about your life or that of your family members. On the contrary, we are all friends, and to my understanding, please correct me if I am wrong, friends are open and honest with each other and do not hide behind curtains while making accusations. Second, you seem to have the impression that this is ENRON, that we are making and stealing billions from the stockholders? The $4,680 dollars that we have collected from each member, INCLUDING THE CAPTAINS, all goes into the league. No one that I know is going to be retiring on $4,680 dollars, not in Michigan that is. Perhaps your thinking that we are going to flee the country to some undisclosed and remote part of Mexico. My friend, a better question would be, how much time and money some people are putting into this program outside of the league? I think that if calculations are in order, which apparently they now are, that we should ask some members exactly what they have done for this league… Hey Elton, “How much time have you spent on this website, time which equals cost and out of pocket expenses?” How long did it take to find the Refs? How long did it take to find and negotiate pricing for the court? How long and how much time did it take to find and negotiate the jerseys or trying to find sponsors? I can go on, but need I say more? And hey Elton, how much money of that $4,680 dollars was take home? My point is, all this information is open and available to everyone. All you have to do is ask. As a friend, I would not get upset that you asked. As a friend, I would think to myself, “sweet, this guy is asking because maybe he knows of a better place to get jerseys at a cheaper price!” Whether this is a good or bad league, the point of the matter is, things do not improve if you do not give us your insight and opinion, for better or worse. And as a friend, I expect you to give me your opinions, and as a friend, I should welcome and listen to your opinion. With that in mind, if anyone wants us to break the numbers down for them, please give me a call at anytime. One last thing, good or bad, I love this league, no matter how much money and time I spend, because I am spending it on and with my friends. Friends, you all have my number.
Okay, before this gets out of hand and people start getting upset, take a step back and understand both point of views. I understand al lot of the first post with all the questions but I also agree with Samer to an extent as well. However, I think that a lot of what Elton is doing should not be considered as time that is of any cost becasue many others do the same but maybe not to that extent. Like Danny and Nick, they practically would be at teh games until the everyone was gone because they would ref the games. That is time that they did not have to spend. How about the people that show up early to run the books, etc. What Elton does is much appreciated and I agree with you Samer. To the person that posted the concerns, all you had to do is the following, "Dear Mr. Commisioner, can you please break down the finacials of C.A.L and detail accounts recievable and accounts payable" and lef tit at that.
I must say that with the amount of money collected this year, and lack of expense for jerseys, shot clocks, etc., (everthing obtained with previous entry fees) we should already have refs paid for and hired. Part of being captains, is the want to be a captain. In that comes the responsibilty of taking care of what the league needs. Don't say I do this and I do that becasue if you're going to do anything for anyone, do it becasue you want to not becasue you're ooking for recognition.
Listen, who ever is involved in managing the money, please post a detailed message breaking down:
How much money was collected
How much was spent and break it down in detail( jersey's, the gym, trophies, etc.)
Balance
List that as explainatory as possible. Do nt make anymore comments, remarks etc, and leave it at that. For those of you who have any questions after that is posted, fell free to contact a captain and ask. LET'S NOT MAKE THIS A BIG DEAL BECASUE AS SAMER SAID, WE ARE ALL FREINDS!! There are a good group of guys in this league so let's not comprimise the integrity of the league over this chit. People have the right to know where the money is going and the management of the finaces has a duty to present the information above. And the caprains deserve a "thanks" for their efforts although, thjose efforts are put forth for their own enjoyment of the league as well.
Yes Elton. Please get the CAL bookkeeper on this immediately and have him break down the numbers for us. Perhaps he can prepare it for us before the game on wednesday.
hey peeps, everyone needs to settle down here. everyone has their points valid or not. i dont think any of the messages or comments were intended to challenge anyones integrity of running the league. i agree with one thing and one thing only and that is to have refs there on a weekly and consistent basis. i love reffing, and i dont mind beign there early and staying late to do so. i dont look at it as time spent for no reason. its great every week to interact with all the players of the cal. but my point is, as i have mentioned to nick and other captains. there will always be more bickering and argueing with players and refs if we use are own players as refs. yeah we might be able to ref better games than hired refs, but that dooesnt eliminate the fact that we know each other and allows us to be more "in your face" when arguing calls. i just believe all the bitching on the court will be reduced, not elimnated, if we had hired refs. peace out
