There is a Chaldean/Assyrian basketball tournament in January, hosted by St. Mary's Church.  Ashor Chamoun is in charge of it and asked me if we were interested in bringing a team to play.  To give you some insight into the tourney, first and foremost it's a family/community event, the proceeds collected go to help St. Mary's church.  It would probably be a good idea to do something like that for our churchs too, maybe one tourney a quarter and each time for a different church (anyone that would be interested in setting that up with me, give me a call 248-933-4379).  Nonetheless, it brings together some of the best Chaldean/ Assyrian players in the country (from, MI,IL,CA,AZ).  There's also a party at night after the games. Some players from our league have played in it, including myself, Nick, Keith, and Steve.  From my own experience, I can tell you that it was a lot of fun, very intense competition, and the best part about it was the 200 or so family and friends that came to watch and support their teams.  I'd really like to send a team of 8-12 guys there, and the more that I think about it, I really want to organize something like this for our churches in OP, WB, Troy, and Sfld.  Let me know what you guys think and who's interested.

p.s. did they have the Lance Atisha Tourney this year, I didn't hear anything about it?
