I'm sure all of you know about the upcoming Iraqi election, but like me, might not have all the background info surrounding it. I was recently made aware that not only Iraqi citizens and expatriates can vote, but also their children. This means that even if you're American born, as long as your parents were born in Iraq and you are at least 18 years of age, you are eligible to vote. If I know everyone well enough, I believe that makes all the CAL members eligible. Whether you guys are interested in it or not, personally, I believe that we have to do what we can to help our people back there due to the simple fact that it is and will be dangerous for them to participate. Having said that, I've gathered together some resources to help us all that are interested in participating make a more informed decision. The Iraq OCV Voter Information Center has been established to personally answer your questions about IOM's Iraq Out-of-Country Voting (OCV) Program. Expatriate Iraqis looking for more information on how to participate in IOM's Iraq Out-of-Country Voting (OCV) Program can now contact the innovative new OCV Voter Information Center by phone, SMS text message or by e-mail, to have their questions answered on every aspect of the Out-of-Country Voting process. The Voter Information Center is providing the Iraqi Diaspora with a direct link to the Iraq OCV Program. Trained Iraqi staff will be on hand at the center to answer potential voters questions in Arabic, Kurdish or English - seven days a week, from 5am GMT to 11pm GMT.

Remember, in order to participate, many Iraqis living abroad will have to first register and then vote at the registration and polling facilities established in Iraq OCV countries. Voting must take place in the same registration/polling station as registration has taken place.
In order to register, applicants must prove their eligibility by presenting at least two acceptable documents which confirm their identity, voting age and Iraqi nationality.
Voting locations in Iraq OCV countries are now available on the Country Pages of the Iraq OCV website www.iraqocv.org
