I know this is off topic b/c playoffs are coming up, but in response to the summer topic posted earlier...I was thinking about setting up the sessions as follows, this is purely hypothetical nothing has been decided yet:
-Two 17 Week sessions: 15 regular season games and 2 weeks for playoffs/finals
-Every team plays each other three times
Here is what the schedule could look like if we did it this year:
Session 1:Jan 12,19,26, Feb 2,9,16,23 Mar 2,9,16,23,30 Apr 6,13,20,27 May 4
Session 2:Aug 24,31, Sep 7,14,21,28, Oct 5, 12, 19, 26, Nov 2,9,16,23,30, Dec 7,14
RESULTS:
-This would give us 18 weeks off throughout the entire year.
-Eliminates point differential between teams, not yet certain how it would affect standings as a whole.
My personal opinion:
-two 12 game (w/ playoffs) sessions is too short, I want to hoop regardless, I think a lot of you will do the same
-if we adopted the 15 wk schedule, it seems kind of long, but it does more give consecutive days off in the summer, if that's what you're looking for.
I'd rather keep it as is, especially with the changing up of captains, it gives us the opportunity to see a variety of rosters...keeps it more exciting, hence this session.
Nonetheless, majority rules...if close to 3/4 of the guys want a break, then that may be what we do.
MAYBE EVEN A 7TH TEAM WOULD BE COOL, AND THERE WOULD BE A BYE WEEK FOR 1 TEAM EVERY WEEK. JUST A THOUGHT. BUT I DONT KNOW HOW YOU CAN WORK THAT OUT WITH EVENING THE GAMES PLAYED PER TEAM. I DONT KNOW, MAYBE YOU COULD THROW THAT IN THE SCENERIO. I KNOW THERE ARE ALOTTA GUYS WAITING TO GET IN THIS LEAGUE.
I agree with Jeter. Maybe adding a 7th team isn't a bad idea and the team and make it mandatory that the team that has the bye week has to show up in support of the league.
