im writing in regards to last weeks game between samer and eltons team... first of all i want everyone to know that nobody on the white team is a sore loser.. I have all respect for everyone on the leauge and im happy for whomever wins... The issue I have with tuesdays game was the techinal foul rule... i just find it hard to believe that all season long only one technical foul had been called, and on tues three was called on our team alone.. especially when theres 3:30minutes left in the game and our team is done 6 points, brian hits a jumper and then gets called for a techinal, for unsportsmen like conduct... not only did the other get two shots and the ball.. but the clock ran down a minute and a half.. Can someone please tell me why the tech was called. b/c i didnt see anything.. i just think if those type of rules are gonna be applied.. they should have been applied throughout the whole season.. and just one game agaisnt our team... hopefully someone can clear things up for me... Forget that Dave, I'm gonna be a sore loser about it b/c that was the biggest bullcrap (lol, there was no swearing right?) ever. That ref was the one that called all the technicals, and besides the technicals that game was lopsided for the other team in terms of fouls anyway. I dont think that guy should ref any game ever again, and the saddest thing is we actually r paying him (I think). I'd rather just have Nick ref, even though he sucks too, lol. Anyways, the white team has been raped every game in terms of fouls called so I dont expect anything will change, but i do suggest we get rid of that ref and have either Nick or Danny officiate.
Thanks for the love fadi, but I would like to be serious for once. I had explained that Elton's team did not get the ball after the Tech's. The first tech was for the time out which was right. They took two shots and the half was over because the time does not stop. ( and there was either 2 or 3 seconds left). Second the Tech on Marvin was a good one. If i was the ref I would Have done the same thing. He deserved it for slaming the ball after he committed a clear foul. Jimmy took the two Tech free throws and then his Two free throws because of the foul. Elton's team did not get the ball out of bounds after that. Finally I have no Idea why Brian was called for his tech. That I will give you, but just because I do not know does not mean that he did not deserve it. It seems like after every call someone is complaining to the refs. (even when it was me) enough is enough and let them do their job. By the way we have called 2 techs before that game. (one on Brian, One on John). Also after Brian made his shot, It is Elton's ball, so they took the 2 free throws and it was their ball anyways.
Nick, you're wrong.....First, on the timeout tech, we first asked if we had any timeouts left, someone said yes on the scorer table and then samer said we want a timeout, on top of that time had already expired so officially it was already halftime by the time he asked for the timeout anyway.....Second, the technical on Marvin led to 4 free throws and they DID get the ball out of bounds also, i remember for sure and that shouldnt be a tech anyway cause he bounced the ball to himself its not like he bounced up in the air or at anybody....Third, no one knows what the tech on Brian was so that was BS.....So to summarize, that ref is no good and we should have a different one.
What's up fellas, I was in the process of updating the site and I noticed the heated discussion on the message board. In response to the posts: Dave, I appreciate your good sportsmanship, and think that your team did a good job, not letting up throughout the entire game. Fadi, I didn't appreciate the fact that you scored 20 points and tried to put my team in a difficult spot, don't ever let it happen again (by the way, thanks for not swearing). As far as being "raped," I think that every team gets their fair share of calls and non-calls, b/c what might be a foul to you, might not be a foul to someone else, I've certainly been in that situaion (Nick sucks at reffing), and I've found that you have to deal with it and hope that the calls come your way the next time around, and I mean that sincerely (Nick sucks). Nick was correct (for once in his life) in his comments stated in the earlier post, other than Jimmy shooting the technical foul shots for the time out, when it was actually Dani that shot them. In regard to Fadi's statements about the tech given for the timeout, it was the right call, b/c if I remember correctly it was Dave that called the timeout initially, then I heard it repeated, and then when the officials came to the scorers table (where I happened to be standing) to clarify, Big Yones (Pat Yono) clearly stated, that there were no timeouts left in that half for the White team, yielding the given tech. As far as the four free throws, two were for the foul which Marvin committed, and the other two shots were for the tech he received after slamming the ball down when he heard the call. The tech on Brian was explained as unsportsmanlike conduct, however, the conduct was not specified, until afterwards I found out it was for taunting (I think it was a "I just neeched you" hand gesture to be specific...you like my in-depth explanations don't you). Bottom line, as far as the ref situation, it's not an easy job, and beleive me you would not want to be in their position, they're doing the best job that they can, they're not going to catch everything, and as far as the older ref is concerned, he's the varsity coach at the school we play at, and is qualified enough to make calls. They are what we were able to get for this season, however, I do believe that professional refs are what we should have, and that is the direction we're headed as far as reffing is concerned for next season. PLEASE REMEMBER: I do realize that some calls may seem questionable, but I ask that you leave it for the captain to handle, talk to them as you would want them to talk to you, and keep confrontations to a minimum. Thank you.
Although I don't believe the technical foul calls have been consistent or in some cases justified, I do believe the referee has the right to call them in order to control the game. In my opinion, the Tech for the timeout was correct (by rule) and Marvin’s Tech was correct (although I’ve seen worst). After Marvin’s T, the Royal Blue team took 4 free throws (2 for the T and 2 for the foul) and DID get another (consecutive) possession. I do not know the rules enough to dispute the call but it did seem awkward that they had a free possession. Additionally, I will adamantly deny taunting the opposition’s players. If I got the tech for glancing at the ref, I guess I could at least buy that reasoning. But I didn’t taunt or disrespect any member of the opposing Royal Blue team.
In that game, I can remember at least 4 different times where the older ref was standing in perfect position to call a foul on the Blue team but did not. There was one instance where Fadi was slapped (loudly) and I asked the ref, very calmly, if he saw the hack and he told me to “stop whining”. Moments later, on the same possession Fadi was fouled again….obviously…..and no call was made again. A few possessions later, Fadi rebounded a Blue miss and was pushed out of bounds. I stood in disbelief that a foul was not called and possession was awarded to the blue team. I believe my T was a culmination of all my constructive criticism (OK complaining!). The only thing I did after I scored was glance (for a millisecond as I was jogging back to defend) at the ref after I scored….I did not say one word! Now that should not earn a tech, and according to my definition for justifying techs, the game was not getting out of hand.
I would agree with Fadi and Dave and say we are better off officiating ourselves or finding different officials. We’ve proved that we can handle being refereed by our peers and we have respected their calls. And Nick you will admit, that after you T’d me up, I didn’t raise my voice, accuse you of cheating (although now that I think about it……), or hold a grudge afterwards. We’re as capable of self-officiating just as Iraq is capable of self-governing. OK, maybe that was a bad analogy but you get my point!
ok guys... nick sorry i have to bring this up... but after the tech they took four free throws and posseison of the ball.. i was on the court and i know it.... all im saying is if u guys can tell me that the techinal foul rule as been applied fairly throughout the whole season then i will shut my mouth... but whats right is right and whats wrong is worng... anyways... its over and we cant do nething about it.... all am i gonna say is our team doesnt get MAD but we get EVEN... and nick say your prayers buddy that we dont play you in the playoffs.. or any team at that matter...
Elton, I never said that JImmy shot the Free throws For the half time tech. Second I feel that i can ref just as good as the others and that i have done a great job. And Brian, There would be no reason for you to hold a groug with me for the tech I called on you. You know it was not personal and that as A ref, you came to my face and yelled at me for calling that foul. It is part of the game and we all know that. I AM GAY!!!

1. Hey Guys, this is an absolute shame that you grown MEN are using the word "rape" as if it means nothing. Lest we forget that there is a young, sweet little girl in Boulder, Colorado who has allegedly been raped by that monster- Kobe Bryant. We should be more empathetic towards her situation. Who cares that investigators found traces of another man's semen in the same pair of panties that she was wearing the night she was "raped". Who cares that her nickname in high school was "Charm's". C'mon guys lets grow up!
2. The ref has actually come up to me several times to complain about how everyone complains after EVERY single foul. We have to take it easy on him. I think that if everyone just laid off of him, he could do a better job. Think about it. In the back of his mind, on EVERY SINGLE PLAY, he has to worry about whether someone is going to complain. That can change the way he officiates. Also, we can't forget that he is not really a ref. Real refs are trained to be objective. He is human. If someone keeps getting on his nerve, he will start to make calls against that person. I have heard him say (several times to players),"Stop Whining!" or "Don't be a baby!". I'm not saying that what he is doing is right BUT the way we behave will prevent him from saying those things and making bad calls. Let's just play basketball and lay off the guy. I don't want him to rape-- i mean hurt-- my team with a bad call. (although bad calls against us would probably put my team and all the other teams on an even playing field).
