As the season takes way you can sort of get an idea just by looking at the teams on paper who stands where, but its not till the season is in full swing that you can really determine What teams mean business and what teams look ready to implode. Half way threw the season here is a look.
Kukambas- With Justin and Fadi on the same team people wondered how this team would fair. Justin is an up-tempo player who likes to push the ball up the floor. But with a surrounding cast of guys who can run and feed off Lance is energy This team looks to be a lot more dangerous then people thought. Justin is having an MVP season thus far and its becoming apparent he plays best with a big fella to set him solid screens. Mike Yaldo is also having a great season provided Lance continues to try to keep him in check with his shot selections.Look for this team to keep up the pace. But as Justin goes, so goes his team. Thats the one thing that could hurt them. So far Justin has yet to struggle.
Team Dynasty-Shangos knee problem looks to be a lot better this season. Even as well as he played last year you could see he still wasnt 100%. He looks rejuvenated and is playing with a purpose. Zeke still leads the league in complaining. Ray has made the most of his opportunities to hit the open shot with Shango drawing in the defenses. Thomas has been a great roll player so far this year. With this teams only loss coming to the Kukambas its evident they can do some damage, and with Fadi A. on this team there is a 1 in 2 chance for a championship.
Samer & The Revolution- With week 5 behind us it is safe to say this team is done with making changes. With Samer trading and acquiring 8 different players all together in just 4 weeks the only 2 members of the team now are Joey Q and himself, simple because he cant trade himself, and nobody is going trade to get Joe Q. Samer again shows how heis a way better GM then a player. This team now looks to be fully loaded. WithZane at the 2 spot, Tameem at the 3, Jeter at the 5, Joey of the bench and Cenon running the point this team has a lot of size and can run with anyone. Tameem is playing beyond all expectations right now, and Cenon and Jeter have great chemistry together. This team now looks to be the team noone wants to run into. Have 2 brothers ever won a CAL trophy together?
Flash Lethar-Perhaps the most disappointing team half way threw the season. On draft day this looked to be the team to beat. But 5 weeks into it they are staring at a losing record.Nouri has been stroking his shot this season, Dylon has been a monster on the boards and even played beyond his offensive expectations, and Nate has been consistent all but one game all season but they cant seem to make it all work together. Nate is another one of those guys whos team goes as he goes. Its been nearly 4 years now since he has last one the trophy and you have to wonder if hes still got it.
The Professionals- There was a time where Nick was said to be the only guy who could control Keith, but this season it is beginning to look like Keith is the one who rubbed off on Nick. The once proud PG has now turned to a life of bombing 3s and putting his head down and driving. It is hard to see this team make it to the playoff round. Keith carries a win percentage with him of around 25% in the last 4 seasons and could very possibly also have the longest streak of any player to not make it to the playoffs in CAL history. Vince has a nice touch around the hoop and good defense, and Marvin always plays when his big brother-in-law makes it easy. But this season Nick hasnt done that with any players. Dani came off his best season last year and now looks to be inadequate with this team. Unless things really start to change this team looks to finish dead last.
The Boomas- Its unfortunate for Yono who has been looking forward to joining the league again after a 2 year absence to come back to this. He traded his top 2 picks (Zane and Senan) to Samer after starting out 1-3 for Joey K. and Nawar. He now has a top defensive team with Joey and Nawar at the perimeter. But offensively this team needs help bad. Even if Joe makes everyone better on offense. Lumber Jack someone has to try and control lumber Jack whos shot attempts are very scantily. Nawar and Ray K. can knock down the shots on the wings and Johns offense may improve with Joey finding him. This team can still be make a run at playoffs but that depends on they self-destruct first.
Very nice Jeter. You did a hell of a job. I do have to agree with everything you said. I do think that Yono's team is for sure out. expecially with PJ (Pussy Joey) on that team.
