Mike, dont let them bother you. Just think about this, we have gone through 4 different sets of refs, and two games into us reffing our own games people are already complaining about us. Do you really think we/you were the problem last night?
1) People need to stop acting like little kids and grow up. A perfect example would be blowing a whistle while you are a spectator and stopping the entire flow of the game. But the first time wasnt funny enough for the people who were doing that, so they proceeded to do it a second and third time last night. The worst part is, if Jarbou (who was the first to do it), would have just stopped for a second and thought "how mad would this make me if somebody did it to my game," he would realize it would have made him absolutely blow up.
2) It is not that difficult to keep basketballs that are being used to shoot around with on the sideline, it really isnt. Shoot when the teams are at the other end of the court, shoot shots that are not absolutely ridiculous and could lead to interferring with the game, and if you are going to shoot at all, make an effort to get the rebounds that might go onto the court.
3) Everybody in this league knows they dont like their game to be messed with or have some kind of asterik next to it, so being on the sidelines and lying to one of the competing teams about how many fouls, or timeouts they have is not funny. It is unnecessary and people need to really grow up.
4) People need to listen to the refs before they start to react and have an outburst, and when one of us who is reffing is trying to talk to you like human beings in a calm explaining matter, LISTEN, dont say anything until they are done, and when you do decide to say something let it be in a respectful, CONVERSARY tone, NOT YELLING, that accomplishes NOTHING and just like when you yelled at Jason or Jeff, it is only going to make a normal person more pissed off and not want to hear anything you have to say. Case in point, I tried calmly explaining to Zeke and Kieth about the excessive physical play, and for some reason Zeke insisted on yelling about I dont konw what, thinking I was telling him he was playing dirty or attempting to injure Kieth inentionally, when if he would have listened to me he would not have picked up his 6th foul b/c I told him exaclty what he was doing wrong.
5) We will MISS CALLS, I guarentee, come up to us, talk to us, ask a question, we will explain it, you may not like the explanation, or you may not agree with it, but just make a recommendation about what to look for or how you felt the play went so that we can address it the next time down the court, it really is only to you and your teams detriment to act like an a**hole about a missed call b/c we really dont understand what you are mad about if you dont explain it like a normal human being.
6) In all honesty, there should have been some techs handed out yesterday, I can say I didnt give Zeke one yesterday b/c that would have been his 6th personal and I dont think anybody on either team would have been satsifed with one of the best players on both teams being booted out of the game for that reason and in such a critical stage of the game/season. I enjoy reffing, I feel like we do a good job, I like explaining to you guys what you did wrong, b/c I honestly think I have more basketball experience/knowledge than most guys in the league, and I am not saying that arrogantly or liek I am better than anybody, but it is hard for me to communicate with you guys when you are completely disrespectful to me as a ref. I know we all bull**** on the sidelines and mess around off the court, but honestly, if the committee wants to take this player-ref approach, you guys really need to respect us in the position otherwise the entire purpose of getting rid of the old refs is defeated.
I know I am going to get some stupid childish comments from some people and I can probably guess who, but that will just validate everything I just said, so feel free.
p.s. Mike wasn't bad last night, reffing is not easy...it's just when you're new at officiating and to come into a position like that at such a crucial point in the season, it could be somewhat overwhelming and one might be hesitant to make some calls. I just think he needs to blow the whislte harder...I'm sure Nick or Fadi can show him, they're good at blowing.
Did anyone notice how Joey didn't T up Zeke last night. I know htey are cousins, brother in laws, or whatever, but that poor excuse for not giving him a tech is bull****. He should have given him a T because he was drunk. How does someone get wasted before plaing ball? GOD, i could smell it from a mile away. I think the comitte should do something about these guys that show up with alchol in their system.
Oh, and did anyone see Kieth arguing about the same **** he was calling as a foul when he was a ref.

I agree with Joey 95% (5% being the knowledge bull****). The stupid stuff retards were pullin on the sidelines yesterday should stop, it ruins the game for the teams playing, the refs and the scorekeepers....and makes this league look like a joke. The Refs should have the authority to suspend any player that interferes with game again, or if it comes down to it, the teams playing will just take a 1 minute recess and beat the hell out of that person. Otherwise, I feel the refs are doing a great job in general.
all i wanna know is who let mike ref that game last night? the retart didnt even know how to use the whistle, he actually had to practice using the whistle and failed at that. i know for a fact that bum outside marsalino's store he brought to ref our game with the coke bottle glasses and his stolen foot locker jersey had higher credentials. now once again why was mike reffing again? by the way, how good is the part of the dolma thats stuck to the bottom of the pot!!!
The referee rotation was suppose to be you, Nick, Joe K, Fadi G, and Senan...you Nick and Joey obviously couldn't ref b/c you were playing, I think Senan had left, and Nick wouldn't let Fadi ref b/c he thought he would sabotage the game (which he probably would of, j/k Fad, take a deep breath, relax)...so anyway, Keith and Mike were nice enough to volunteer.
By the way, the dolma at the bottom is the bomb, great observation...who had dolma and didn't tell me?
