Also, a couple things...first, I mean this with the deepest respect, everyone please, we need take a step back and check ourselves...it may sound harsh, and I don't want it to come off that way, but I want you guys to remember why we got rid of the previous refs, b/c of lack of respect...our guys that are volunteering are doing it as a favor and out of love for the league, if you have to contest a call, by all means, do what you have to do, just make sure that it's respectful and doesn't interrupt the flow of the game, that's all I ask...imagine it was you on the other end and think about how you'd respond...I think we have a great league and great group of guys and I want it to stay that way.
Second, congrats to everyone on a great regular season...to the guys that got in, good luck in the playoffs, to the guys that didn't, don't sweat it b/c it went down to the wire and it could have been anyone of us that got in.
I understand what you are saying abou thte refs and the complaining that was going on last night. However, you have to understand that most of it was during the last game of the night which didn't matter and people were just trying to have fun on the court and even with the refs. I don't think anyone actually cared about a call when none of were really play hard to really win.
What I have a problem with is the fact that Tony A. or Derek P., were not allowed to sub for Ernest last night. I really just don't. The reasons I got were that Derek is too big and Tony A. is that much of a better player and his atttude is better that he couldn't sub for Ernest. Anyone in the league would take Sinan over Ernest but yet it's been okay for Sinan to sub for him. I sub'd for Ernest and when I am not runnignpoint, I am a lot more affective and in my opinion bring as much if not more to the table than Ernest and I was able to sub for him. Ask majority of the league and you'll find Tony A and Ernest are both athletes and a fair sub. Although, sure I might rather have Tony A., I still don't feel it's that unfair of a substitution.
I've always understood that if a player goes in a later round than the person he is subing for, there really is no question unles it is like a big man for a guard. Well, Derek P. went in the later rounds and should have been able to play for Ernest because Derek P is running the court like a big man half the time and isn't a true big man. But, giving Nicks team a tired Jeff Orow wasn't right either. The guy played his ass off the game before and really didn't have the energy to play the second game.
All I know is I remember, Nate subing for Nolan (that is no way a fair sub), I remember Nick subing for Nolan (that is not a fair sub), I remember Not letting Zeke sub for Fadi one time (which you guys thought wasn't a fair sub), well, what the hell is a fair sub? I told you to make a list of each player and also have 4 people that are qulaifed to sub for them at anytime during the year. That way it is pre approved and there are no questions or arguments.
Samer was sucking Ernest dick last year because of his play. So now, he decides to pick up a very SIMILAR player in Tony A. this year. Ketih won't admit that he would take Ernest anytime of the week if it wasn't for Ernest's childish ways at times so he decided not to let Tony A. play last night. Anyway, enough of the complaining, I;m sure you heard enough last night.
I just think that the substitution process and lack of judgement and reason has bee an little suspect over the last couple seasons.
Joey, suck a ****. Nouri said it best and predicted your stupid comments. As mentioned earlier, we had a double digit lead but didn't hold on to it. I think Alex had the game of his life last night.
I did focus my attention on the last game more because it was the last game I saw...I understand the desire wasn't there as a whole to play, but those games are even worse to watch, which is why I was a bit disappointed in the flow of the game. Toward the end of the first game and beginning of the second it was a bit disorderly too. People can say it's the refs, or the scorer's table, or the committee...I don't think we should point the finger at any one other than ourselves. If people took more accountability, I don't think you'd see as many problems.
For example, if I'm reffing, I'm going to try to ref the fairest game possible and pay attention to everything as it happens...b/c more than not, there are guys on the court that want to play a good game and play their asses off and want to win, and I owe it to them to try my best.
If I'm at the scorer's table, whether at the book, the shot clock or running the score board, I want to make sure I have everybody's points or the time right, b/c my competence affects what's going on during the game.
If I'm a player, my attitude towards my captain, my teammates, the referee, my game affects the chemistry of my team and the flow of the game.
But on the other hand, when people are throwing things on the court, a bottle, a basketball, a jersey, a whistle, or screaming at the top of their lungs in someone's face or causing a scene for no reason...that's where respect is lost, for themselves and the people around them. That's why I posted what I posted last night, I just want people to be aware of these things and do their best for the good of the group, that's all.
As far as the sub thing, it's not a perfect process...bro what do you want me to tell you, government is not perfect how do you expect a substitution process in a basketball league where people's opinion's come into play to be flawless? Flat out, it's not.
In regard to that sub sheet when you brought it up last season I asked you to put it together and you said you would and I haven't seen it yet.
Like I said earlier, these things all can be looked at in different ways. For example, let's say a player does worse this season than last, is he still entitled to the same sub value? What do you think? I think it's a toss up, it depends on the guy and the team he's going to play with and how those things all affect each other. There is no clear cut process. Put the sub sheet together, we'll look at it, and try it for next season, maybe it'll work, and maybe it won't. I'm always open to hear new ideas that will make the league function better, you know that.
As far as last night with the new sub process, Nick and I were taken out of it, and it was decided by Alex, Samer and Keith. After they picked Jeff Orow, I still complained, b/c that left me dealing with Jeter and Jeff down low. I didn't agree with Tony A, b/c flat out he would have made their team better, but like I said, that's my opinion, he can create, shoot three's, slash, play defense, for the most part a good team player. But b/c they couldn't take you b/c you had the next game, I would have went with probably Brian. Brian cuts, plays well with Nick, plays good defense, not as fast as Ernest, but still works hard and is a good team player. And maybe, maybe I would have suggested Fadi E, but he shoots better three's than Ernest.
What do you mean by suspect? Like something shady occurred? If so, I don't think anything shady happened, it's just a tough call on short notice, and could have been avoided if Ernest showed up.
