I don't know if you guys pay much attention to the stock market...but I was looking up stock symbols and was curious to see how Apple did on sales of the new nano. Basically if you would have bought shares in July when tech stocks are usually at their lowest and held it to just after the peak of holiday shopping (day after Thanksgiving), you could have made a nice $40/share profit. I'd say if they come out with a new device by next year or another revamped nano, it might be the stock to buy, big risks, but possibly big rewards.
Stop trying to push your products without paying an advertising fee! You make a valid point Fad, but what does the Nano have that these phones don't that makes it the more popular choice now? Functionality? Ease of music downloads? Style? More compatible hardware/software? Or is it just a trend and as soon as more and more people replace their regular phones with MP3 phones, you'll probably see the decrease in iPods sharpen...but in the short-term it looks like they (Apple) have a great product and they don't seem to be going anywhere. Not to mention they're pretty good at re-inventing themselves and have created a niche market that they're leading by leaps and bounds.
